Our History

      Over the years, Southwest Aluminum has inherited the Chinese industrial spirit and the spirit of third-line construction, has lived up to the great trust of the motherland, kept the political mission in mind, and worked tirelessly to provide a large number of high-precision aluminum alloy materials for national aerospace and national key projects.
      In the 1960s, New China relied on the Chinese industrial spirit of "independence and self-reliance" to equip "Nine National Treasures" equipment. Among them, the "Four National Treasures" equipment was settled in Southwest Aluminum. The 30,000-ton die forging hydraulic press put into operation in 1971 was One of the most critical equipment. For decades, the 30,000-ton die forging hydraulic press has played an extremely important role in ensuring the key materials in key areas of our country.
                                         
      The 30,000-ton die forging hydraulic press is a large-scale equipment independently designed and manufactured in my country. It started construction in the 1960s and was put into production in the 1970s. In 1977, a 30,000-ton die forging hydraulic press successfully produced large aluminum alloy frame die forgings for aircraft, which opened the way for my country’s aviation die forgings to develop towards large-scale development. Over the years, the Chinese industrial spirit of "independence and self-reliance" has been carried forward in Southwest Aluminum. The vast number of technical personnel have boldly explored and innovated, unremittingly overcome difficulties, repeatedly created great achievements, and continuously filled the domestic gaps, so that the production capacity of 30,000 tons of die forging hydraulic presses has been continuously improved. The important task of ensuring the supply of key supporting materials required by the national aerospace and key model projects has been played.
                            
      For 56 years, Southwest Aluminum has provided a large number of key materials for the "Shenzhou" series of spacecraft, "Chang'e" series of satellites, "Long March" series of rockets, "Tiangong" series of target aircraft, domestically produced large aircraft, Sky Eye, high-speed rail and other national key projects. Aluminum also won honorary titles such as the GX Project and the Long March 5 Carrier Rocket Outstanding Contribution Award.
Over the years, the 30,000-ton die forging hydraulic press has continuously created a legend in China's aluminum processing industry. In 1989, the overall aluminum alloy forged ring with a diameter of 3.5 meters was successfully forged, and it was known as the “first ring in Asia”. After that, the record was continuously set. In 2007, the diameter of the forged ring was expanded to 5 meters, and in 2016, the diameter of the forged ring was increased. Expanded to the 10-meter level, achieving a major breakthrough and breaking the world record. In 2020, Southwest Aluminum Aerospace Aluminum Alloy Forged Rings won the honorary title of the "Fifth Batch of Manufacturing Individual Champion Products" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, demonstrating the Chinese industrial spirit of "independence and self-reliance".
                              
      In order to meet the needs of national development, the technical process and production capacity of the 30,000-ton die-forging hydraulic press after many transformations have been continuously improved. It has provided aluminum alloy materials for many major projects such as my country's Long March series rockets and Shenzhou series spacecraft to protect the country. The aerospace industry has made important contributions. In the new historical period, the 30,000-ton die forging hydraulic press will continue to undertake the important task of meeting the needs of the country and contribute to the country's economic development.
