Determine the shape, size, location and various technical requirements of the part to be precision forged.
Selection of parting surface: generally, it is not allowed to select the precision forging part. For example, the parting surface of straight bevel gear is usually selected on the largest diameter and back cone of tooth profile, and the parting surface of spur gear is selected on the largest end face.
Machining allowance and tolerance: after forging, the precision forging part will not be subject to any mechanical processing, so there is no machining allowance, which is exactly the same size as the part drawing. The allowance and tolerance of other machining surfaces can be determined according to the national standard precision level.
Die angle and fillet radius: During precision die forging, ejector is generally set on the die, so the die angle is very small. The fillet radius is determined according to the part drawing.

Forging heat quenching is actually a high temperature quenching with deformation, so it is possible to obtain a structure similar to that of high temperature quenching, that is, all dislocation lath martensite is obtained, and twin martensite is eliminated.
