The main alloy elements of 6063 aluminum alloy are magnesium and silicon, with excellent processability, excellent weldability, extrudability and electroplating, good corrosion resistance, toughness, easy polishing, coating, and excellent anodizing effect. It is a typical extruded alloy, widely used in building profiles, irrigation pipes, pipes, rods for vehicles, stands, furniture, elevators, fences, etc. 6063 is generally used in building profiles.

The main alloying elements of 6061 aluminum alloy are magnesium and silicon, and Mg2Si phase is formed. If it contains a certain amount of manganese and chromium, it can neutralize the bad effect of iron; Sometimes a small amount of copper or zinc is added to improve the strength of the alloy without significantly reducing its corrosion resistance; There is also a small amount of copper in the conductive material to offset the negative effects of titanium and iron on the conductivity; Zirconium or titanium can refine grains and control recrystallization structure; In order to improve the machinability, lead and bismuth can be added. In Mg2Si, the Mg/Si ratio is 1.73. In the heat treatment state, Mg2Si is solidly melted in aluminum, making the alloy have artificial age hardening

Function. 6061 requires industrial structural parts with certain strength, weldability and high corrosion resistance. 6061 Various industrial structures with certain strength, weldability and high corrosion resistance are required, such as pipes, rods, shapes and plates for manufacturing trucks, tower buildings, ships, trams, furniture, mechanical parts, precision machining, etc.

What are the differences between them?

1. Different chemical composition

6061 has more alloying elements than 6063. The main alloy elements of 6063 aluminum alloy are magnesium and silicon.

2. Mechanical properties

6061 aluminum profile is better than 6063 in strength and machinability, and also has good oxidation resistance.

However, in terms of plasticity, 6063 aluminum profile is better than others. It can make materials reach higher precision; 6063 has higher tensile strength and yield strength, showing better fracture toughness.

3. Scope of use

6061 is a high-quality aluminum alloy material with high toughness, good weldability and corrosion resistance

Yes, it can be used for trucks, ships, aerospace devices, trucks, trams, molds, electronics, furniture, and anti-corrosion structures;

6063 is an aluminum alloy material with very strong comprehensive properties. It has high strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. It can be used for building profiles and industrial profiles at the same time.

It is commonly used in aluminum alloy doors and windows, curtain walls, various industrial frame structures, rail transit, aerospace, military equipment, automatic conveying equipment and other fields.

4. Heat treatment process

6061 will not be cold worked after solid melting heat treatment, but can be naturally aged (T4 state) or manually aged directly (T6 state). It has large deformation coefficient, high hardness and is difficult to control;

The 6063 is cooled after high temperature forming, that is, the quenching process. Generally, the cooling method is air cooling, and then it is artificially aged, that is, T5 state.

It can eliminate the internal stress of industrial aluminum profiles to the greatest extent. The deformation coefficient is small, the hardness is not so high, it will not break easily, and the mechanical properties are stronger. However, 6063 also uses T6 processing method, its deformation coefficient will also become larger, the hardness is higher, and it is more prone to fracture than T5.

In general, 6061 has more alloy elements than 6063, so the material strength should be high。
