Non-destructive testing refers to the method of inspecting and testing the specimen without damaging the specimen, also called non-destructive testing. With the development of modern science and technology, laser, infrared, microwave, liquid crystal and other technologies have been used in the field of non-destructive testing, and traditional conventional non-destructive testing technology has greatly enriched the application methods due to the development of modern technology.

PT Penetrant testing

Conventional non-destructive testing methods: Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy Current Testing (ET).

Penetrant testing is a non-destructive testing technique for detecting surface or near-surface opening defects of materials (or parts). It is almost not limited by the shape, size, structure, chemical composition and defect orientation of the inspected parts, and can be widely used in the quality inspection of various processing technologies such as forgings, castings, and welded parts, as well as metals, ceramics, glass, plastics, etc. , powder metallurgy and other materials made of parts quality Inspection.

Penetrant testing is greatly affected by the surface roughness of the object to be inspected, and is not suitable for the inspection of porous materials and their products.

Penetration testing advantages and disadvantages

Advantage:

It can detect cracks, folds, looseness, pinholes and other defects in the opening of the metal material surface;

Can determine the location, size and shape of defects on the surface of the workpiece being inspected;

No equipment, no water and electricity, suitable for on-site testing;

Inspection is independent of workpiece geometry and defect orientation.

Shortcoming:

Not suitable for loose porous materials;

Inability to detect internal and surface defects with unopened surfaces;
