ASTM B241 5083 Aluminum Seamless Pipe
5083 Aluminum Pipe is one of many aluminum alloys used in different industries. The ASTM B241 Aluminum Seamless Pipe is drawn and is smooth. It has fine granular structure that allows it to be easily and precisely anodized. The addition of magnesium and other elements in this alloy makes it much corrosion resistant under marine environments. This property makes the alloy be used extensively in marine applications. The Aluminum 5083 Box Pipes are used in stronger applications that require strength. Aluminum is not strong enough compared to steel, but the addition of alloying materials along with the shape of the alloy could make it stronger but not to the level of steel alloys. The EN AW-5083 Aluminum Welded Pipe is one of the strongest among the non-heat treatable aluminum alloys. This cannot be heat treated after production. Cold working is used to strengthen the pipes of this type.
Chemical Composition

Product features and applications
5083 Aluminum ERW Pipe is electric resistant welded and has a good weldability. This property helps the material be used interchangeably with other material made pipes as well. The 5083 Aluminum Alloy Hollow Pipes are one of the most used but the sizes and shapes can differ. The ASTM B210 Aluminum Alloy 5083 Round Pipes are the most used shape where there are other shapes such as the EN AW-5083 Aluminum Alloy Square Pipes. The 5083 Marine Grade Aluminum Rectangular Pipes are also used in some applications. The shapes mainly determine the strength and the application type. The underwater lines usually do not require much strength but need more corrosion resistance. The lines that are up in the air need to be stronger and corrosion resistant as well. The wall thickness and the nominal sizes of the pipes play a major role in the strength as well. The 5083 Grade Aluminum Schedule 40 Pipes are mostly used in marine applications.
