5083 Rolled Ring Forging for Wind Turbine

Availability:
Quantity:

5083 aluminium alloy is an aluminium alloy with magnesium and traces of manganese and chromium. It is highly resistant to attack by seawater and industrial chemicals.

Alloy 5083 retains exceptional strength after welding. It has the highest strength of the non-heat treatable alloys with an Ultimate Tensile Strength of 317 MPa or 46000 psi and a Tensile Yield Strength of 228 MPa or 33000 psi. It is not recommended for use in temperatures in excess of 65 °C.

This magnesium alloyed aluminum product is primarily used in the marine industry due to its excellent corrosion resistance, especially to seawater. In addition to good corrosion resistance, 5083 aluminum pipe also has good weldability characteristics for fabricating vessels.

Aluminum 5083 is a non-heat treatable alloy known for its resistance to extreme environments, including seawater corrosion and industrial chemicals. While featuring limited machinability due to its exceptional strength, AL 5083 is the material of choice for marine and aquatic applications, and is typically used in shipbuilding. Other uses for this alloy include transportation applications such as rail, truck, and vehicle bodies, as well as pressure vessels and food processors.

Temper

The most common tempers for Aluminium 5083 are:

0 – Annealed wrought alloy

H111 – Some work hardening imparted by shaping processes but less than required for a H11 temper.

H32 – Work hardened and stabilised with a quarter hard temper.

Forging

Aluminium / Aluminum 5083 alloy can be forged in the temperature range of 454 to 399°C (850 to 750°F).

Alloy 5083 is commonly used in:

Shipbuilding

Railroad cars

Drilling rigs

Coachwork

Pressure vessels

Aluminium armor

Uses requiring a weldable moderate-strength alloy having good corrosion resistance are commonly utilizing alloy 5083.

Aluminium / Aluminum 5083 alloy is used in missile components, welded pressure vessels, auto aircraft cryogenics, TV towers, drilling rigs, transportation equipment and marine parts.
